Impact is the average of the four parts, rounded, plus one point when Canada is directly hit on two or more channels, up to 10.

Two separate scales from 1 to 10. Strature never multiplies or merges them.

What changed

Dated, newest first

  1. Crude output 2.04 mb/d in August and 1.49 mb/d in September [6]
  2. The US President posted that the US will not attack Iran before the midterm elections [7]

Why it matters

In March and April 2026 drones and attacks attributed to Iran hit two Kuwaiti refineries, the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery and power and desalination plants, as reported at the time. Separately, the strait's closure led Kuwait's oil company to cut output and declare force majeure (S&P). No Iranian hit on Kuwait has been reported since 3 June; Strature's register leans towards a renewed US or Israeli strike on Iran by 20 Nov, while the US President ruled one out before the 3 Nov midterms.

Why Likelihood 5 Brakes: no hit since 3 Jun; the US President's 8 Oct no-strike pledge to the midterms. An open contest.

Why Impact 3 Threshold case one plant stopped for a day. Worse case: a refinery or water outage of weeks.

The other facts on file (7)
  • Drones struck two refineries (19 Mar), Mina al-Ahmadi attacked (20 Mar), a power and desalination plant hit (30 Mar), two power plants and desalination units hit with two generation units failed (5 Apr), Shuwaikh oil complex struck (6 Apr) [2] (6 Apr 2026)
  • Six US soldiers killed at Port Shuaiba (1 Mar); Ali Al Salem air base hit on 6 Apr and 28 May [2] (28 May 2026)
  • Iranian air attacks on 3 Jun killed one person; no later hit found [2] (3 Jun 2026)
  • After the strait's effective closure, output cut to 0.5 mb/d from mid-March against 2.58 mb/d pre-war; force majeure declared [3] (22 May 2026)
  • 2.37 mb/d of oil and products shipped through Hormuz in 2025 [4] (31 Dec 2025)
  • FY2025/26 oil revenue down 30%; Enterprise attributes the shortfall to lower volumes after Iran's closure of the strait [5] (29 Jul 2026)
  • F-0074, a renewed US or Israeli strike on Iran by 20 Nov 2026, estimate 0.61. Strature forecast F-0074: 61% (21 Aug 2026) [1] (21 Aug 2026)
