Impact is the average of the four parts, rounded, plus one point when Canada is directly hit on two or more channels, up to 10.
Two separate scales from 1 to 10. Strature never multiplies or merges them.
Why it matters
Mauritania has been spared much of the jihadist violence that grips Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. But JNIM's blockades in Mali since late 2025 have pushed nearly 14,000 more refugees across the border, and in April 2026 the group blockaded Bamako and called for a front to topple Mali's junta. This card asks whether the violence crosses into Mauritania.
Why Likelihood 3 Push: JNIM's expanding campaign in Mali, with a Bamako blockade, a call to topple the junta and a May 2026 border-road attack with no deaths (one near miss). Brake: Mauritania's long record without such attacks (none in 36 months found).
Why Impact 4 Threshold case one person killed.
The other facts on file (3)

- Joint jihadist and separatist attacks in Mali; defence minister killed; JNIM announces a Bamako blockade and urges a common front against the junta [2] (30 Apr 2026)
- 6 May 2026: Moroccan food trucks set on fire on the Gogui Zammal-Gogui border road by armed men reported as JNIM-linked; no driver killed; truck count disputed [3] (7 May 2026)
