Impact is the average of the four parts, rounded, plus one point when Canada is directly hit on two or more channels, up to 10.
Two separate scales from 1 to 10. Strature never multiplies or merges them.
Why it matters
In September 2023 the Dominican Republic closed its land border with Haiti over a canal on a border river, and reopened it to basic goods only after almost four weeks. Haiti's crisis has deepened since: its vote is postponed and about 1.5 million people are displaced. A new trade closure needs a trigger; none is on the record today.
The other facts on file (2)

Three scenarios and their signposts
- S1
Managed border
Deportations continue; trade flows.
- S2
Water or security trigger
A new canal, river or gang incident leads to a full closure, as in 2023.
- S3
Partial shutdown
Specific goods banned without a full closure.
| Path | Signpost |
|---|---|
| S1 | Monthly deportation releases with no change in trade rules |
| S2 | A presidential statement threatening closure |
| S3 | A decree listing banned goods |
No probability is given for the three paths.
